Yamaha XS description

  • 1981 Yamaha XS 650 bobber/chopper.
  • This bike was built by Slacker Garage Shop (SgS) in Michigan.
  • No expense was spared with over $7K grand invested.
  • The bike only has less than 1500 miles on it since finish date and runs fantastic.
  • Never wrecked; never down; clean title.
  • SgS started with a stock 1981 XS 650, hardtailed it and did a 35 degree rake with a DNA Springer.
  • It has electric and kick start.
  • The paint is flawless; color is a heavy metal flake green with pearl white and red pinstriping; coming in at $1700.00 this was no cheap paint job. The paint work was done by Heavy Metal Customs; they are one of the top painters in Michigan and it shows in the detail. The pinstripes even continue under the tank and fender which you can't even really see but they hold nothing back on there work.
  • The bike also has a ceramic coated 2-int-1 intake with a new 36mm mikuni Carb, not a huge increase in performance but looks kick ass on it.
  • This is a light weight, very fast and very loud bike that has won many shows including editors choice from street chopper magazine at Muskegon bike time 2012.
  • Search slacker garage shop on YouTube for a video of the bike (with different bars--the pictures you see here are the bars on it).
  • Here is a list on some of the smaller items on the bike:  TcBros forward controls with SgS pegs; SgS pipes with stainless turnouts; Chrome spike bolt kit; SgS bear trap kicker; SgS bars; White leather solo seat Polished engine case; Biltwell whisky throttle Drilled mag wheels; powder coated and polished!

I'm selling because I no longer have a desire to attract crowds, attention, and answer questions wherever I take the bike (...yeah, I'm getting old and tired!).

No joy rides!  You want to test ride it? Better have cash in hand Cash only.

Buyer is responsible for paying for and making all shipping arrangements.  I can help deliver anywhere in Texas or Oklahoma (500 mile radius) for costs of gas there and back.  Otherwise I have a Michigan based transport service I use; they are reasonable (about $500.00-$600.00 anywhere in country with an enclosed trailer).

I'm easy to work with.  I guarantee you will love this bike--EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN MACHINE.

Mythbusters to Compare Emissions of Cars Versus Motorcycles

Wed, 21 Sep 2011

Are motorcycles more environmentally friendly than cars? Ask most people that question and their initial response would probably be “yes” because motorcycles are more fuel efficient, and they release less CO2.  But is that the whole story? MythBusters‘ Jamie Hynerman and Adam Savage are going to find out on the Emmy-nominated show’s fall season premiere, Sept.

Recall for 2006-2009 Yamaha FJR1300

Mon, 04 Jul 2011

Yamaha is recalling certain 2006-2009 FJR1300 sport-tourers due to a problem with the electrical system. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the ground joint connector of the wire harness on some Yamaha FJR1300 models may overheat and become deformed. If the electrical system is not properly grounded, the motorcycle’s electric components including the ignition system may malfunction, potentially causing the engine to stall.
