Yamaha Seca description

For sale is a 1982 Canadian version of the Yamaha Seca Turbo XJ650LJ. It has not run in..well, a few years - 2008. The turbo will need to be rebuilt/replaced as blew blue.  uhh.   The carbs will need work or rebuilt. The motor was good.   The bike could be converted to a non-blown version. The XJ650 and XS650 and some 750's from that era use a LOT of the same parts, engine, brakes chassis..R1 brakes will go on these bikes.  The front brake calipers and lever/ fluid reservoir have been used to rehab a US turbo I recently sold, as well as some of the screws to mount the plastic to the bike, but these are easily found in stainless steel (nice) at any decent hardware store (I am replacing the screws on a bmw w/ stainless = sharp). The plastic is good except for a bit of a lower where it (I) tipped over in a gravel driveway.  The paint and striping and emblems are in nice /very nice condition.  The shield is slightly yellowed. The seat has a 1 inch crack. The 1 key will not turn the lock on the gas tank, but the ignition is free and slick (better than the US bike I sold) as are the little side storage panels in the fairing. The gas line is cut. No battery. Front tire leaks from sitting (holds air for a few days), rear is worn but ride-able. Easy to roll around.  Hey - it can have historical plates.. age happens. .  Yeah - so I now see it MAY be a parts bike - sob...:(  .
The speedo is a 240kph (150mph) unit.  I'd wanted to swap it with my daily ride as back then the US was only allowing 85mph on the US versions (ie; the one I rode for years and sold).  These are Unique!  There were 3800 into N.America (US & CAN) and I sold my US version.  I have never seen another Canadian Turbo on eBay nor parts.  29755 KILOMETERS ~ 18,490MILES.  Clear OH title.

Yamaha Gets Monster Energy MotoGP Team Sponsorship, Annuls Lorenzo’s RockStar Sponsorship Deal

Fri, 21 Dec 2012

Yamaha has reportedly signed energy drink maker Monster Energy to sponsor its factory MotoGP team, according to Spanish site MotoCuatro.com. The new sponsorship deal created a bit of a problem however, as Yamaha‘s star rider Jorge Lorenzo recently signed a two-year contact extension to his personal sponsorship deal with RockStar, a rival energy drink maker. To get around this sticky situation, MotoCuatro reports Yamaha will invoke a clause in Lorenzo’s contract allowing the manufacturer to veto and buy out his RockStar contract.

Hayes to Race in Valencia GP for Injured Colin Edwards

Mon, 31 Oct 2011

Josh Hayes will make his MotoGP racing debut at the Nov. 6 Valencia Grand Prix in Spain as an injury replacement for fellow American Colin Edwards. Already set to test the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 M1 after the season-ending race, Hayes was a logical choice to ride in Edwards’ place.

Yamaha Sketches out the Features on the New 2010 YZ450F [Video]

Thu, 10 Sep 2009

You’ll realize how cheesy that headline is after watching the pretty rad video that Yamaha has released. Yamaha’s new motocross bike has taken a radical new approach.  The engine is backwards. Yamaha’s reason for doing this is to shift the heavy end of the motor more to the center of the motorcycle to make it more agile and responsive.  Slanting the cylinder also made for a straighter pathway for the air intake at the front of the bike.
