Yamaha Other description

I'm selling my '78 SR500. If you don't know about the SR's they're kinda rare, and they're really cool bikes with a big cult following. They made a dirt version with the TT500 and an enduro XT500. The SR's have bigger valves so I think they're a little more powerful. They're really quick for their size and have lots of tourque.

I did a ton of work to this one, the only thing that's stock is the frame, motor, and front forks. I have parts to make a few different versions of this bike for different looks or riding conditions. I ride it on/ off road, and have raced flat track with it. Here is a partial list of the work, custom, and new parts:

TX500 rear wheel/ swingarm
Modified rear brakes
Shaved 10 lbs off the rear frame
Knight style tail section with custom seat
New shocks
Honda CL100 tank, custom mounted, with new cap and petcock
New lights, bars, cables, levers, mirror, tach, grips, quick turn throttle
XT500 front wheel with custom brake stay
New tires
New Mikuni carb/ UNI filter
New vintage style cloth covered wiring throughout
Custom exhaust with modified vintage Superior muffler, has baffles but is still very loud

The bike is currently in the scrambler version, but I have lower forks, shocks, a CL400 drum front wheel, another rear wheel, both with vintage flat track style tires (front us new, rear is used). If you want the lower flat track look I can swap them over. The first half of the pix are the scrambler version, and the second is the Tracker version.

The only issue with the bike is that the lights went out recently but they came back on and have been working again. I think there must be a loose sure somewhere in the charging system. I rode it all last weekend though and they've been working fine. It might be due for sn oil change also.

The bike is very stripped down, and intentionally a little ratty, knowing it will get beat up. It is kick only, and these bikes never came with an electric start. I have a clean title in my name, the bike is registered and insured.

I'm located up in Kingston but can deliver to the city or anywhere within 100 miles for $1 a loaded mile. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but I can drop it off at a shipper, or meet them locally. $500 deposit on PayPal required within 48 hours of the auctions close, the rest due in cash upon pickup, unless other agreements are made.

NZ Superbike Series Points Leader Is A Grandfather Of Three!

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

Dennis Charlett is stamping his authority on the New Zealand Superbike championship. The 45 year-old father of five and grandfather of three (no, those aren’t typos) won the first three races of the season during the series opener in Christchurch, placing him firmly at the top of the points standings heading into round two at Levels Raceway, near Timaru. The championship favorite certainly got the wake-up call as Taupo’s Suzuki rider Scott Moir raced to a convincing win in Saturday’s Superbike race, while Charlett was forced to settle for fourth place.

MotoGP to Hold Official Test in Argentina; South American Nation Returning to Calendar for 2014

Thu, 11 Apr 2013

Dorna Sports announced there will be a MotoGP test at Argentina’s Circuito Internacional Termas de Rio Hondo in July to allow teams to prepare for the track’s expected addition to the 2014 MotoGP calendar. Argentina was actually supposed to join the MotoGP tour this season, but the round was scrapped because of a dispute between the country and Spain after the Argentine government seized control of a Repsol subsidiary. Repsol is, of course, a prominent sponsor of several teams including Honda‘s factory team.

AMA Supercross: 2012 Indianapolis Results

Mon, 19 Mar 2012

Six more rounds remain in the 2012 AMA Supercross season and the championship is more or less decided. The first third of the season was a thrilling four-man fight for the title. The middle of the season saw contenders drop like flies and now, what looked to be a dramatic battle for the title is shaping up to be a second consecutive AMA Supercross Championship for Ryan Villopoto.
