Triumph Sprint description

2006 Triumph Sprint ST ABS, New Tire, Excellent conditionThe Sprint ST represents the very pinnacle of sports touring refinement. It s a bike that has never made compromises it s defied them. It s a sports bike that covers distance, a touring bike that carves corners. It possesses a truly usable mix of poise, power and all-round practicality and in many ways is a true GT motorcycle.
The ST s 1050 cc, fuel-injected, three-cylinder motor has huge reserves of torque for linear, effortless drive in any gear and ample horsepower for when it s needed. Peak power is an impressive 123 bHP at 9,250 rpm while peak torque of 77 lbs. ft. arrives at just 5,000 rpm.

Enhancing the engine is a buttery six-speed gearbox with remote gear change linkage and clutch fitted with an anti-backlash gear. The character of the three-cylinder layout is unfettered but the engine has a seamless polish that provides a perfect counterpoint to the lusty power delivery. The Sprint ST has an engine to revel in, to explore and, most of all, use to the full.

Matching the Sprint ST s sublime engine is a superb chassis. An aluminum beam frame, featuring a wheelbase of 57.4 in., makes for a fabulously composed yet fast-steering motorcycle, with a huge scope of ability. High quality 43 mm cartridge telescopic forks, adjustable for spring preload, are used for fine control while the rear shock is remotely adjustable for spring preload and rebound damping. A pair of powerful, four-piston brake calipers mated to 320 mm floating discs provide superb stopping power, a two-piston caliper and 255 mm disc slow the rear wheel.

The Sprint ST s sleek look is both functional and stunning and everywhere neat touches, like the chrome infill bars and front indicators set in the mirrors, add class. Styling cues, such as the triple front headlights and triple exit exhausts, LED rear light, complement each other fluidly and the Sprint ST has a cohesive air of a machine that mixes function and form perfectly. Instrumentation includes an LCD trip computer with average MPG and speed functions, amongst others. Fuel capacity is a useful 5.5 gal.

Further expanding the Sprint ST s role is the color-matched factory-designed hard luggage (available as an optional extra), which has been specifically designed for the ST. A host of other accessory items are also available, including factory-fitted GPS and an ABS braking system, which features high on the list of desired attributes for touring riders, particularly on the continent.

Triumph s ABS system is carefully designed to be unobtrusive and to retain all the sensations and feel of riding, simply adding to the rider s control under hard braking. The system, which works independently on the front and rear brakes, operates at 100 calculations per second and so can sense the exact moment the wheel is about to lock up. It then releases the brake a fraction of a second to allow the wheel to regain gri

AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Riders Gearing Up For Road America

Thu, 29 May 2014

The AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class makes its much-anticipated return to Road America this weekend. The four-mile Wisconsin circuit is a particularly exciting place to watch the middleweight bikes because its long straights and braking zones make passing and lead changes commonplace. More than just a test of man and machine, the races often develop into a strategic battle leading up to the all-important last lap and run up the hill to the checkered flag.

Motorcycle Live and a few of my favourite things for 2013

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

There is lots of shiny new metal on show at Motorcyclelive this year but for me it’s the new Triumph Daytona 675 that steals the show.  We’ve been starved of brand new models in the Supersports segment for years but for me the latest Trumpet has made the wait worthwhile. And if its performance matches its looks then I reckon the 2013 bike of the year is a foregone conclusion.  The sleek curvy nose contrasts perfectly with the more pointy angular rear end and new side mounted silencer. It is lighter, more powerful and revs harder with much work on on mass centralisation to further improve handling.  Few of us have a whole lot of spare cash these days but £8899 for the standard model seems a fair price for such an awesome bike. That said I’d have to consider selling the granny and granddad to find the extra £1700 for the 675R.  Available early next year, and surely the perfect all round track day tool, this beauty comes with upgraded suspension, brakes, ABS, a quickshifter and some nice carbon detailing. The white 675R on display at the show looked even better in the flesh than previous images I’d seen so be careful or you might find yourself handing over a deposit. With no money left from the Triumph stand you’ll need your six special numbers to come up for my second favourite show item the AGV Pista GP Project 46. Although road legal this extremely light, full carbon helmet is designed especially for racing with a huge field of vision, extensive ventilation and superb ergonomics. It also comes with earplugs which suggests there may be some compromise in the noise department but it is still an incredible piece of engineering. At £799, this special Pista is also an incredible price but there will only be one hundred available and Raceways Yamaha reckon they are going fast.

Triumph introduced a new model - Trekker GT

Tue, 23 Jun 2020

And it's not even a motorcycle. A two-wheeled novelty from Hinckley is an electric bicycle with a range of 145 km. The new two-wheeled Triumph is visually as close as possible to a classic road bike, all electrical equipment - a battery, an electric motor, wiring - is carefully hidden from strangers' eyes in an aluminum frame.
