This ground-breaking 500 twin established the pattern which Ducati would follow for the next 20 years and on.  Ducati's foray into the world of vertical parallel twins in the mid-1970s proved to be a horrid experience, so designer Fabio Taglioni called a halt to those 350 and 500s and went back to the drawing board. The result was the Pantah 500 SL which first appeared in Milan in 1979 and went on to spawn entire subsequent generations of belt-driven, OHC, 90-degree V (or L) Ducati twins.The first Pantah used the engine dimensions from the Grand Prix racer of 1973 at 74mm by 58mm to give 499cc. Apart from the bore and stroke dimensions, this was an entirely new design of air-cooled engine although the five-speed gearbox was a development from earlier machines.

Most of these books come from auctions and my personal library.  Some may look brand new, but many have a store stamp, inked initials of previous readers, or some mark inside the book.  I bought some from libraries and they will have the usual stamping, card pocket (removed or intact), stamped withdrawn, etc.  Some have yellowing or dark around the page edges and some have dog-eared corners.  Paperbacks may have spine or cover creases, scuffs, stains or soiled, tear, rip and wear etc.  Hardbacks may have dents around edges or corners and be with or without dust jacket or Mylar (if it even came with one when new). Beautiful bike.  I bought this bike two years ago but never really had time to go out and get used to the Houston traffic.  I think the bike is better for someone with more experience and access to cruising out in the country.  The bike has a lot of power and has always been stored indoors.  The chrome on the wheels was a bit pitted when I bought it.  I would either leave it alone or have the wheels rechromed.  The leather and chrome are in great shape.  The bike has never been dropped.  I recently installed a new AGM battery. The bike also comes with accessories that the prior owner gave me with the bike.  It comes with two HD jackets size XL, one is lightweight and the other is heavy with protective gear.  There is a skull helmet and a full cover SNELL certified helmet size M.  I'm also including a pair of size 11 HD boots that are also in great condition.
