Other XU description

This 2011 Zero XU is a great bike for someone looking to commute, run around town, or just take out for short trips. The battery is in great shape, and provides about 15 miles of realistic riding for me (~210lbs, 6' 3") between charges. The specs state a 25 mile range, but that is on a treadmill at a constant low speed with no rider. The range is definitely something to consider if you're considering this motorcycle, but the upside of the smaller battery is that it only takes about an hour to fully recharge from any standard 120v outlet. This means you can go longer distances if you stop to recharge. I would regularly ride 20-30 miles or more, stopping at a coffee shop etc if I needed to. I even had a small adapter made (not included in this auction) to allow it to plug into electric car chargers.

The biggest benefit of this smaller battery is that it can be easily removed from the bike in order to charge it indoors. In the pictures above you can see the small black and yellow box behind the front wheel, which is the onboard charger. This can easily be removed and kept inside as well. If you live in an apartment or another space where outdoor charging is not an option, you can just keep the charger inside, and bring the battery inside to recharge. I did this for most of the two years I've owned this bike, and it is a truly unique feature. At times I've even used a rolling backpack to bring both the charger and battery into a Panera to recharge!

As I said above, the battery is in great shape, and will give you about 15 miles of normal riding. That can go up or down based on hard you push it, but I've always gotten at least 11 or so, even on long hilly rides. There is a meter on the dashboard that shows 10 bars when full, and goes down evenly and accurately as you ride. The removable charger plugs into any household outlet with the same cable used by desktop PCs, and the battery should be plugged in any time you're not riding(there is an intelligent battery management system built in) in order to keep it healthy.

The bike itself was involved in a front end collision by its original owner which damaged much of the front hald of the bike. As a result, I replaced many parts upon purchasing it, including the brake lever, throttle, mirrors, turn signals, front fender etc. Most are direct replacements, except the mirros which are very basic (the OEM mirrors can be found for about $50 and I can give you info on them), and the throttle. The new throttle is more responsive, and gives a sportier feel, but I discovered recently that if you fully pin the throttle the bike doesn't register it, so you just have to know that it lets you twist past the maximum. There are a few areas with scratches on the front, as well as a small cosmetic chip on one of the front shocks (detailed photo above) and scratches on the swingarm where the original chain came off the sprocket. I have since replaced the chain, and it has been running even better and quieter than before. I am only selling it now as I've moved up to another Zero motorcycle!

The bike is super light and fun to ride. It has a high seating position which is great for riding in traffic, but is low enough for my 5'3" wife to ride it without issue. I can include the outdoor cover I have used with this bike, as well as a tank bag that is a perfect size to hold the charger (as an alternative to mounting/unmounting it from the bike) and a half-helmet if the buyer wants it.

It has a clean PA title. I can deliver anywhere within 50 miles of 19041 for free, and an extra $1 per mile beyond that. It can also be easily transported in any truck or van (even a minivan) if the seller wishes to pick it up themselves. The deposit is due via PayPal within 24 hours of the end of this listing, and I can take a bank cashier's check, or USPS money orders (they offer them at up to $1000 each) for the rest, and can meet at a bank or title agency to make sure everything goes through ok. I can't offer any kind of warranty etc on the bike, but am happy to show it to any interested buyer who wants to see it before bidding. Contact me using the ebay contact seller option if you have any questions, or would like to see the bike in person. Best of luck!
