Other Velocette Viper 350 description

Up for auction is a running and driving 1959 Velocette Viper 350 with original patina.  I am by no means a Velo expert  but I will try and describe it to the best of my ability. The story I was told from the previous owner (elderly gentleman who had owned since the mid 70's) was that the bike had at one time been owned by Richard Renstrom, a famous motocycle writer who has written several books on classic motorcycles and who started the Idaho Vintage Motorcycle Club. The bike had some work done  in the early/mid 80's . This work consisted of a top end job with +1 over bore, new valves, springs (hairpin type) and valve guides. Swingarm bushings were also replaced. Bike was ridden for around 2000 miles then put up where it sat.  When I purchased the bike a couple years ago it had sat since around 1985  and was not running. Upon collection I had the bike sent to A.C.E. Motorworks in Houston to get her back running. The magneto was rebuilt by Brightspark magneto services and one of their "easycap" condensors installed. All fluids replaced, carb cleaned and some wiring issues sorted.

The bike is now running and driving. Usually starts 1-2 kicks; sometimes 4-5.  I just use it for cruising around my neighborhood. It will need a few things to be 100% road worthy. The mileage showing on the bike is 46,699.  This may or may not be correct as the original "Smith" gauge was replaced by a newer unit at some point. The engine re-bore was done around 2000 miles ago.  The carb needs to be replaced; the slide sticks. It was probably tightened too hard at some  point and warped the slide. It is fine for putting around but if you twist wide open it can stick. Original Amal replacements are available for around $300. The choke and compression release cables need replacing and it could stand new tires. The tires again are fine for putting around but they are old and the front has some dry cracking.

A box of parts comes with the bike as well as the original fishtail pipe. Included in the spares box are manuals, replacement rubber parts, an ampere gauge, original tools, emblems etc (please see pics). Clear Texas Title in my name

Please take a look at the photos and video and ask any questions. I will answer to best of my ability.  I will provide phone number if you want to discuss. I will get another video loaded up in next day or two with bike running up and down the street.

Check my feedback and bid with confidence. I will ship internationally but I will not crate.  All shipping is responsibility of buyer.  Good luck!
