Other Rickman MK IV description

This Rickman triumph was built in 1974 from the original kit by Ed Brooks of Brooks Motorcycle Shop in San Jose CA. After being built it was on display in Mr Brooks shop until it closed. Following Mr Brooks death, his collection was auctioned and I was fortunate enough to be able to buy this example of a bike I had lusted after as a kid. Please see, in the photos, Mr. Brooks "recipe" for the build and also some information about the man himself.

The story I heard was that after building the bike, it was started and run up and down the street a few times then put on display.  The condition of the bike is certainly consistent with this story, i.e. the pipes have no bluing, the tires appear as new condition (although checked from age).  It was started again prior to auction.  I drained the tank and coated the inside with Caswell, cleaned the carburetor fueled it up and she started right up. A couple times around the block is all I've ridden it prior to draining the tank again (even though it's been lined I'd rather be safe and store it with an empty tank).  The original seat has been replaced as the cover was hardened and beginning to crack (probably sun damage). The paint is original, the nickel plating is original and has a nice patina, engine cases and front wheel hub all have a well preserved polish. The original chrome Dunlop wheels are in fantastic original condition, spokes have a light patina. The rear fender loop is bent a little and difficult to fit, this isn't visible with the body work on and I have no idea how or when this damage was sustained. The body is near perfect with some light scratches consistent with its being displayed for decades at a public venue. The spark arrestor/muffler has some rather heavy scratches; I chose not to refinish it because it still has the original "Skyway" spark arrestor stickers on it.  Mileage listed above is fictional. I have no idea how many miles are on this bike but my best guess would be fewer than ten, but that would be a guess.

This is an unrestored, living room quality original motorcycle with a significant history. If you are a San Jose local or know anything about this bike, please let me know and I'll pass on the information. I originally thought I would ride this bike but just couldn't wrap my mind around the possibility of dropping it. So it's been sitting in the garage as the subject of my admiration for a couple of years now. I can't find a place in the house for it and the garage is just too small so I'd like to find it a good home.

I was the first one to actually title the bike, the title is written as a 1974 Triumph. I didn't want to quibble with either the CHP or DMV about this as I was just happy to have been able to get a title with the pile of paperwork provided by the auctioneer.

Please feel free to ask questions and I'd certainly be happy to show it in person to anyone local. Please be sure that you are willing to purchase before you place your bid.

I am not a shipping company and can not give you a quote for shipping prices but a quick Google search will lead you in the direction of a number of reputable shipping companies who can quote a price.  I will be more than happy to cooperate with your shipper.

$500 deposit via PayPal required within 3 days of auction end. Remaining payment must be received and have fully cleared my bank before the bike will be released
