1970 Other Makes Penton Six Days 125cc on 2040-motos

1970 Penton Six-Days 125.

Frame # V6618.

Engine #  - I do not see any stamps or tags on the engine cases.

Someone has chrome plated the frame in the past. Chrome overall looks OK. There is some rust sprinkles in the corners and general wear and fade on the upper areas under the seat and tank and in most corners. See pictures. More cleaning and polishing will provide more shine. The rear frame loop behind the seat appears to have been repaired. See picture. Tubing looks good. Welding looks amateur but is solid.

The exhaust was rumored to be a modified Hodaka high-pipe from years ago. See pictures. Fits on bike decently. Welding looks amateur but appears solid. Header fits a bit loose in cyinder port flange. Should have a custom gasket or spacer pipe built for a tighter seal and quieter exhaust note.

Forks rebound and dampen fairly well. No rust on the tubes. Legs are clean.

Wheels are pretty clean. Some of the spoke nipples have light corrosion. See pictures. Rims have little rust sprinkles here and there. Overall look good though. Hubs and spokes are clean.

Engine starts and runs. There is normal air cooled bike cylinder fin rattle and clunk. Carburetion is clean and bike has a nice zing to the power.

The condition of the engine's internal parts is UNKNOWN. We have not disassembled the top end and we do not have x-ray vision! Piston clearance is most likely a little loose????? Rod and main bearings are unknown. Kickstarts right up though, runs cleanly, idles and revs out quite well.

Carb runs clean and idles as should. No leaks at time of test ride.

Transmission shifts up and down thru all the gears. The clutch does not engage. This bike sat for several years before recently being started. It is my belief that the clutch plates are stuck together. A quick disassembly and sanding of the drive plates will be needed before riding.

Outer engine cases and cylinder are clean as pictured. There is a chip on the upper right engine case just above the chain. See picture. 

No engine oil leaks have been seen since bike was test ran and rode.

Brakes are weak. Should be disassembled, cleaned, pivots lubed and new shoes installed before use.

Rear shocks are springy and do not have alot of dampening. I cannot see any oil leaking. Chrome has minor pitting. See pictures.

Fenders are aftermarket Preston Petty Mudders in good used shape. See pictures.

Number plates are universal white plastic ovals in good used shape.

Seat cover is in good shape too. Looks like it was recovered at some time in the past. Foam is soft and comfy.

The original gas tank is in very nice shape. No dings or dents. Inside is clean. The paint has a nice shine to it. There is some minor imperfections on the top of the tank though. See pictures.

THIS BIKE DOES NOT HAVE A KILL BUTTON OR KILL SWITCH.

This is a cool old bike in need of restoration or a good thorough "going-thru" before being ready to ride or race. An excellent start for a fun Penton project or perhaps a cool display piece for the Penton enthusiast!!!
