I'm relisting due to a "mistake by the former winner". Believe me, I understand getting excited over bikes, but please don't bid if your not sure you want it or don't have the funds.

Ebay does not have the option to put no title

There is no title for this bike, one is not required where I live. I will give a bill of sale if needed.

I bought this bike several years ago from a doctor in Florida who had this one in his collection. He had it restored and the engine partially restored. I went through the engine and list everything below.

Work done originally:

Bike was completely disassembled, frame, swingarm and lower fork legs were blasted and painted.

New fenders, side panels and decals.

New seat cover and seat foam.

Forks rebuilt with new seals, springs and oil. I believe they were modified for better damping.

Ohlins rear shock completely rebuilt and set for a 190lb rider.

New stainless spokes both wheels, althougth one spoke has rusted on the back wheel, new wheel bearings and brakes.

New custom front chain case guard.

New Talon sprockets and new chain.

New Metzler MC5 back tire and new Dunlop 752F on front. (about an hour on them)

New air filter.

New IMS footpegs, folding shift lever.

It has the original pipe, but an aftermarket Silencer.

New Terry Cables.

40mm Mikuni Flat Slide carb.

The engine was disassembled and a new rod was put in, new crank bearings, all new bearings in the cases and three gears, I don't remember which ones now. They left the top end alone, except that Maico Only modified the head.

The engine mounts on the frame and engine are perfect, there are no welds on the frame or engine.

Engine work I did:

I started it when I first got it and the piston was making some noise, like I said, everything was redone except the cylinder. Why, I didn't know. I took it apart and it was wore out and some hairline cracks in the sleeve, that might be why (they didn't want to resleeve it). So I sent the cylinder off to John at Canadian Maico, he presses out the old liner and bores out the cylinder a little, as his new liner is thicker and better quality. Then he matches all the ports up. I also put in a Wiseco Pro Lite Piston, standard size. I disassembled the rest of the engine and it was rebuilt as he said.

The airboots on the carb were starting to crack, so I replaced both of them.

I also put on a new Pingle Petcock.

I then decided to put in a new clutch housing with gear and new drive gear on the crank as there was some slop between the teeth. Then I installed new Kevlar clutch plates and new springs. This engine is basically new. This was going to be my personal race bike and I wanted it all perfect.

There are some scratches on the pipe and a couple on the frame and fork leg, nothing major. It looks great.

Like I said, whatever needed replacing was replaced, which was a lot of parts. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I put about an hour on it to make sure there was no problems and to break in the engine. This thing runs like a scalded ape. It is extremely powerful, it's not really for an inexperienced rider. As I mentioned earlier, the suspension is set up for a 190lb fast rider, but it will hold a heavier person with no problem, I weigh 240 and it works perfect for me. The only things wrong are, one of the number plate decals is starting to come loose and it might need to be jetted for your area, and it wouldn't hurt to have the drum on the front wheel turned and pick up a set of Maico Only's custom front brake shoes and have the brakes arced to match. I did this on my other maicos and it will make them stop like crazy(I can actually pull the back ends off the ground)! That's it. Did I say it was fast! Extremely fast! I wouldn't be afraid to drag any modern motocross bike out there, this bike makes crazy power, I've ridden 450 4 strokes, it should have no problem dragging them.  This bike could also be run on a modern style track without any problems. It has 12" of travel front and back.

I was going to race it, but a little over three years ago I started having health problems, I'm better now, but I'm involved in a new business and it's going to take all my time. I have a number of maicos and it's time to start thinning some bikes out I don't ride. I have another 83 490, so I won't be without ;-)).There's absolutely nothing to worry about on the bike, it looks great, runs great, you will not be disappointed. Check my feedback, I've been a member since 1999 and no negatives. I've sold two 501's on here and several other maicos and no problems. Bid with confidence.

This is the Ultimate Vintage Weapon, it makes crazy horsepower, but it is very usable. I still wouldn't recommend it for an inexperienced rider though.

Cash is always good, but will accept PayPal, cashiers check, personal check. But checks must clear bank before I let it go.

The buy it now price very low, much less than I have in it. You couldn't buy a bike and do everything that's been done to this for anywhere near what I'm asking.

If you don't have a shipper, I can recommend some, including a guy who picks up and delivers all over the country. I can crate it for $100 and deliver it to a shipper in St. Louis. Buyer pays all shipping charges. I'm also going to Brownsville, Tx in a few weeks and can deliver it on a line from St. Louis to there for no extra charge. The shipping weight I have listed is an estimate for the bike and crate. Feel free to ask any questions.
