1964 Rickman Matchless Metisse 500 cc Matchless G80CS

Museum Find: This Scrambler has been in the Otis Chandler Museum and the Michael Taggart Motorcycle Collection for the last 30+ years.
It appears that a small group of these bikes were exported to the United States as complete motorcycles, and not as kits. It was to be used for Desert Racing. Within a year or two after they arrived, they were obsolete due to the advent of the 2-Stroke. This could explain why the bike appears to have been ridden very little and probably never raced.
Purchased in August of 2011 and was to compete in the Catalina Island Grand Prix in 2012. Fortunately for me, the race was cancelled because I am far too old to compete. Since then, the bike has been occasionally shown and has won 2 Best of Shows and 1 First in Class in the top Southern California Motorcycle Shows.
Starts easy (for a 500 cc Matchless) and runs great!
