a 1971 Maico 501
This is your chance to build the Maico you always wanted - the Mighty 501.
This bike had been sitting for some time before I acquired the project. Both the frame and center cases are true 501 parts - each with the 501 prefix. Plan a full-on rebuild.
The piston is stuck - penetrating oil and heat failed to move the 91mm slug. Thus the rod was cut to separate the lower end from barrel. Not sure if the sleeve can be saved.
The right engine case has some chain damage. See picture @ counter shaft area.
The 4 speed transmission is intact and looks OK. Clutch basket and associated hardware are decent - clutch plates are beyond service.
The frame has some chain damage @ lower cross member below seat.
