Other KX 450 description

I have a really beautiful example of a 1974 Kawasaki KX 450 for sale.    I've relisted this bike with a lowered reserve.   The last buyer didn't complete the sale.   By early 1972, Kawasaki decided to build a competitive MX bike to fill the growing market in the United States.   They went out and hired riders Brad Lackey, John Desoto among others to race and help developed the bikes.   The bikes showed early promise and Lackey rewarded them with their 1st National title in the Open class later that year.     In 1973 Kawasaki was prepared to release a limited production open class bike that they dubbed the F12MX.   They also released the 250 F11MX version.   While the 450 was a ground up new design, the 250 was based around their 250 F11 Enduro model.   Both of these bikes were produced with many light components that brought them both in near 200 lbs.    The projected number of these bikes to be made available was rumored to be about 200 of each.   Many believe the numbers were far smaller.   They were made available only to shop sponsored riders that had interviewed for them.   I was lucky at the time to get both a 450 and a 250 to race.   They were extremely light and powerful.   And they fed us parts over the course of the year to try out.   I guess to see what we could break.    In 1974 Kawasaki was ready to release their 1st MX bike to the public.   It was dubbed the KX 450.   And it was built for only one year.   In 1975 they released a KX 400 version of the bike.   So this bike represents a one year model.    This bike was professionally restored for me using only the correct NOS parts.   It's been in my office for about 10 years.   Motor was flawlessly rebuilt with NOS parts.   Looks like it just rolled off of the line.   Never had oil or gas in it since the restore.   It has all of the impossible to find parts that came stock on them.   The  Mikuni carb stamped with KX 450 on it, fiberglass number plates, correct tank/cap, this has the most flawless exhaust pipe I've seen.   The wheels are original.   Not even rebuild.   Just cleaned up.   The front is perfect.   But I did notice the rear hub has a few paint chips around the spokes.   I couldn't find the original tires for it.   And it needs a new original grip on the throttle side.   Besides those 3 things, it's very, very nice.   So if you ever wanted one of these bikes for your collection, you can't go wrong with this example.   Thanks for looking and good luck.   Bid high and often!   Please contact me with any questions.

I will help with shipping any way I can, but it is the sole responsibility of the buyer.  I can store it for you for a reasonable about of time.  Please contact me before you bid.    It comes with a bill of sale only.   But I can get a title if the buyer desires for the actual cost.   Winner must pay a deposit of $500 via Paypal within 24 hrs of the end of the auction.   Balance to be paid before it's shipped or picked up.
