This is a 1949 Ariel 4G Square 4.  998cc bike that has been in storage for a few decades.  This bike correctly uses the "light Alloy" engine unit, coil ignition with separate dynamo,  genuine Solex carburetor, telescopic front forks, plunger type rear suspension, 19" front wheel and 18" rear and a 125 mph Smith speedometer.  Overall a very complete motorcycle and the pictures will indicate that.  The air cleaner is however missing.  I purchased this bike a few years ago with the intention of full restoration but time will not allow.  A few condition details: gas tank has several dings, and as you can see some rust spots coming thru the chrome, otherwise appears solid, wheels have rust on the chrome also.  The seat may be a Lycette, but data tag is not present, no tears and the seat springs are excellent, the seat is not presently secured.  This bike rolls smooth, kicks over with good compression, and yes it ran when I put a small amount of fuel in the carburetor.  I did not run this for more than 20 seconds as I do not know if all oil passages are free.  I suggest a complete engine rebuild for as long as this has been in storage.  At least you can be sure all engine components are in-tact and operable.  A while back I purchased an excellent used cylinder block as the one on the bike has cooling fins broken, this will be included in the sale.  The aluminum head has one cracked fin as I am pointing to in the picture, otherwise good.  The rear fender where the plate mounts has some rust but overall the sheetmetal is in great condition.  Look closely at the pictures and you will tell I'm not hiding any defects that may be present.  I can help with shipping arrangements as I'm located close to hyway for convenient pick-up.  I require a $500 deposit and the remainder in cash.  Yes, this bike comes with a clear Nebraska title.  You can best contact me in the evenings at 402-429-3642 for questions and I can send you additional pictures if requested.  Milage is unknown.
