Bicycle racers Oscar
Hedstrom and Oliver Hendee built the first Indian motorcycle in 1901 and
their first V-twin in 1907. The first “Big Twin” was introduced in 1909, with
a loop frame, and the company finished 1-2-3 at the 1911 Isle of Man TT. A
leaf-sprung, swing-arm frame was developed in 1913, but the clock was running
on the design, which would be replaced with the flathead Powerplus twin in
1915. Please note this

Powered by the all-new Thunder Stroke 111 engine, the new Chief will be the first new Indian motorcycle introduced after the company was acquired by Polaris Industries in 2011. Tue, 28 Jan 2014Polaris Industries a record fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 2013, with sales revenue of $1.08 billion and a net income of $108.7 million. While off-road vehicles represent the bulk of Polaris’ business, its motorcycle operations saw a 94% increase in fourth quarter sales, thanks to strong demand for Victory Motorcycles and the addition of new Indian Motorcycles models.
