Marco Melandri earned BMW its second ever World Superbike victory to move into second place in the championship standings behind Max Biaggi in the series’ only stop in the United States. Melandri won a red-flagged Race Two at Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park after finishing second to defending WSBK Champion Carlos Checa in Race One to give him 142.5 points on the season, tied with Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes but behind Aprilia‘s Biaggi who leads the way with 160.5 points. Honda CBR250R Sticking Around for 2014, Getting Facelift to Match New CBR300R

Earlier this month, Honda unveiled a new CBR300R model at the CIMAMotor show in Chongqing, China. The assumption was the 286cc CBR300R would replace the CBR250R as Honda’s entry-level sportbike. The CBR250R isn’t completely disappearing however, as Honda announced the 2014 version will be appearing at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, Nov.

Isle of Man TT 2013: Lightweight TT Race Results

James Hillier set new lap time and race time records in a dominating victory in the Lightweight TT race for the 2013 Isle of Man TT. All three of the Kawasaki rider’s lap times were faster than the previous lap record for the Lightweight TT class, for a record overall time of 57:42.245 and average speed of 117.694 mph. The race started with another Kawasaki rider (the class is dominated with Kawasaki Ninja 650s with a few Suzuki SV650s) Dean Harrison taking the early lead through the Glen Helen viewpoint but Hillier was right on his tail about half a second behind.
