Honda CT description

1971 CUSTOM CT 70 (115 cc motor)

Bike was custom-built by a friend of mine who restores motorcycles for a living.

Any and all aluminum, triple clamp, wheel hubs, etc. were polished, as were the wheels plated for appearance. I have only put approx. 50 miles on the bike since being rebuilt. Motor is a new 115 cc Honda knock-off that makes more than enough power.

Transmission is a 4-speed with manual clutch. One issue is that the speedo stopped working last summer. Don't know if the cable or small gear broke. Also, I have never put any acid in the battery given its limited use, so the lights are not functional at the moment, but that is a simple fix with a working battery.

Bike is a riot to ride and always attracts a lot of attention. Very fast for what it is. Sort of a big block CT 70. Always starts within a few kicks, making it extremely reliable.

2013 AIMExpo: Parts For Scooters Customs – Video

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

The inaugural American International Motorcycle Expo in Orlando, Fla. has something for just about every two-wheel fanatic – including customized scooters. If you’re happiest tinkering on a low-displacement scooter, the Parts For Scooters booth at AIMExpo is the place you want to be.

No snow here folks!

Fri, 31 Dec 2010

An erratic work schedule combined with a full season of kids racing means, there aren’t many opportunities during the summer months for the Mackenzie family to grab a holiday. Instead, we tend to save our pennies and head off somewhere sunny for Christmas. I love doing this as it shortens the UK winter but more importantly it means I miss the festive frenzy.  I do like Christmas, but I hate how everyone gets caught up in the retail madness that kicks off just before Halloween, then has everyone stressed (and skint)before Santa has even hitched up his sleigh.

Remember push starts?

Fri, 18 Nov 2011

Alongside the most stunning collection of race and road bikes at their Motegi museum, next to some race bikes, Honda also has a step by step guide on most aspects of riding. I photographed the wonderful text on push starting but I also have lots of equally hilarious instructions on cornering braking and even what a riders goal should be. Watch this space...... oh, and hopefully see you at the NEC over the next ten days!
