Honda CL description

THIS ITEM HAS BEEN RELISTED BECAUSE THE BUYER BACKED OUT EVEN THOUGH AS STATED IN THE FIRST WRITE UP THE TITLE WAS CLEAR IN THE LAST OWNERS NAME.  THE FELLOW DID NOT QUITE UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANT AND WAS NOT SMART ENOUGH TO ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE HE BOUGHT THE BIKE.  I HAVE SINCE HAD THE TITLE TRANSFERRED TO ME, IT IS NOW A CLEAR TEXAS TITLE IN MY NAME.  This is a 1965 HONDA 305 Scrambler CL 77, it is a very clean and detailed motorcycle, it is the first year of the 305 scrambler.  This was my retirement project, I picked it up locally about 12 years ago intending to restore it.  I retired last year and in fact restored it.   My only daughter recently got married so I have decided to sell it to help offset the cost of the wedding.   It is the desirable small brake model, it is a one year only variant containing many of the attributes of the CL72 (250cc) model to include butted swing arm and frame were the old style of cast lugs brazed into tubing were used.   The bike was registered as a 1966, not uncommon if a bike did not sell in the year received at the dealer or it was overstock from the previous year the bike would be registered with the year it was sold and not necessarily the year it was made.  The speedo shows 16041 miles which I believe to be correct as the pistons were standard and I went with the first overbore with new pistons and rings.  This bike is an honest 1965 model in that it doesn’t have cross over parts from other scramblers, the levers are the correct ridged ones found on the earlier scramblers, the clutch and brake cable are the ones with the big adjustable knobs with the wire position holders in place the perches are correct to include the perch lever bolts and nuts, which were specific to this model.  It has the correct slotted chain guard and the very pretty one piece tank (it doesn’t have the ugly seem going down the center of it like the newer ones had.  It has new NOS air filters, Dunlop K70 Tires, new tubes and rim strips, new battery.  The seat was completely restored by Cool Retro Bikes, I have included the ebay link so that you can read just how much goes into the restoration of the seat, they are currently the very best at CL77 seat restorations. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-250-305-SCRAMBLER-CL-72-CL-77-ORIGINAL-OEM-FACTORY-COVER-SEAT-RESTORED-/370883672642?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item565a63ba42&vxp=mtr)  All tinware and frame has been repainted. This bike starts runs and shifts through all gears both up and down as it should.  Lights work as they should, neutral light in not working, it  has one key that only works in the ignition and not the steering lock.  Carbs have been rebuilt and are correct for this year model scrambler.   The tank badges are new reproduction items. Installed new set of Snuff or Nots on the exhaust.  This bike was built to be a very nice rider so it is not at a concourse bike.  To take it to that level you will need to get a fresh rechroming of the exhaust, the exhaust shields, the axles and nuts, the chrome part that is just above the lower fork leg and shock lowers.  As it stands now the chrome is in average to better than average condition.   The poorest chrome is on the chrome part above the lower fork legs. The plastic shock covers have light scratching from use. The closer you look at this bike the more you will like it. The pictures do not do it justice. I reserve the right to end the sale for local buyer. LOCAL PICK UP ONLY. This bike is to be sold AS IS A deposit of $500 is required upon purchase.  You will need to coordinate final pick within seven days of purchase.   The balance to be paid upon pickup, Cash or Money order please. PLEASE ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS PRIOR TO PURCHASE. I invite inspection of this motorcycle and will work with buyer on pickup.  Thank you for looking and Happy Bidding.
