For your consideration.Bonanza minibike Model MX 100.This model was produced in the late 60's most likely 1968 or 69.Jeff Ward rode one of these to one of his early minibike championships in So Cal if my memory serves me correctly.I restored this bike about 5 years ago put gas in it,rode it around the yard, then I drained the gas out and parked it.Oh it ran just fine, through all the gears, brakes worked well,it was just too pretty to mess up.So it sets parked in either my garage or basement depending on rather it is the season for shows or not.   So here to the best of my remembrance are the details:Frame: powdercoated silver, rear fender brackets welded on Frame # Bonanza 100 539Seat:original seat frame recovered by my local seat guyControls:new brake, throttle, chrome brake leversWheels:new reproductionGas tank:Dave Miller reproduction.original white gel coat.I could never bring myself to paint it.The blue you see is auto graphic material like what they make racing stripes from.It was merely cut to fit and stuck on.Fenders:same as tank but front has been chipped from moving it around Engine:Correct series : E-2391 Hodaka Ace 100.I believe that I went through it and replaced the seals but I would not swear to it.All though not strarted in a while,I did fire it up a couple of days ago with starter fluid and it started on about the 4th kick.Carburetor:Not sure of but complete.Exhaust:its chrome underneath but just too much work to make it correct so it is painted with high temp paint.Front fork:combination of repo parts and my own design.main tubes and crown are stainless steel.   Bike shows a bit of wear on side cases but a fresh coat of paint would bring them back up to snuff.A kid up the street father had one of these when I was growing up.Always thought it was the most badass thing when he took it for a rip up the street. It was.Time to let some one else enjoy it now.

A Different Bike Magazine

Thu, 12 Feb 2009

Motorcycle Retro is a pet project of former Motorcyclist editor Mitch Boehm, launching as Motorcyclist Retro in early 2008 under the Source Interlink media umbrella. It featured a contemporary look at motorcycles of the 1960s through the 1980s. However, the circulation numbers of MR didn’t meet the expectations of the media conglomerate, and they cancelled production of the magazine after just two issues.
