 1971 Shovelhead FLH Harley Davidson Electra Glide

Super Clean 1971 Shovel. The motor has 1800 Miles on it since it was professionally built by Tommy Bubel  @ RED Racing in Boca Raton Florida. Upgraded with, CV Carb, S&S Heads, 80" Wheels & Cylinders, Points ignition. Upgraded to disk brakes front and back. Very nice Orange and Cream Paint. There are a few small chips. Matching saddle bags with mounting brackets. 50% Life left in the tires. The neck has been molded with a slight rake. The bike always starts on the first or second kick. There is plenty of power and she is geared to cruise nicely on the highway at 65-70 MPH. The electric starter is currently disconnected because the jack shaft was sticking. Clean Clear Florida Title. “Built for Speed – Race Inspired Motorcycles and Art” is the title of Michael Lichter’s 14th annual “Motorcycles as Art” exhibition in Sturgis this August, which for the second year in a row, will be jointly curated by Michael and Paul d’Orleans of the Vintagent. ‘Built for Speed’ is sure to impress visitors with a beautiful and thought-provoking display of motorcycles and related art, the race-inspired theme making connections between motorcycle racing and custom bike designs inspired by racers. Each custom bike in ‘Built for Speed’ reflects a branch of racing; Speedway, Flat Track, Drag Racing, Board Track,  Grand Prix, Land Speed Record, and will be displayed beside the racing machines suggesting the origins of each style.

Harley-Davidson Breakout Recall Caused by Fuel Tank Angle

An official recall announcement by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration sheds some light on the cause of a recall campaign on 2013-2014 Harley-Davidson Breakout and CVO Breakout models. We wrote about the recall last week, after campaigns were initiated in Canada and Australia to address a problem with the fuel sensors not properly reading the correct volume of fuel. We now know the problem is caused by the angle of the fuel tank.

Harley-Davidson Reports Q1 2013 Results

Harley-Davidson reported 15.9%  increase in motorcycle revenue despite selling 9.1% fewer motorcycles over the first quarter of 2013. According to the company’s first quarter 2013 report, Harley-Davidson recorded revenues of $1.15 billion from motorcycle sales, compared to $995.9 million in the same quarter of 2012. At the same time, Harley-Davidson sold 54,254 motorcycles worldwide over the first quarter, down from 59,677 motorcycles in the same period last year.
