2004 Harley-Davidson Sportster XL 1200 Custom, Sportster XL 1200 Custom - Over the years, the motorcycles of the Sportster family have become legendary. This one is for those wanting more of that legend. The all-new 1200 Custom. It's a unique blend of raw power and XL style, taken full-bore. You'll immediately notice the tank. It's a bigger, low-profile 4.5-gallon design that boosts the custom look and holds more juice so you stop less. Notice the bigger fuel cap, as well as the side profile that pays homage to classic Sportster tanks. The bike is lower, thanks to a new seat and frame. We widened the rear tire. There's a new swept-back handlebar and riser that looks and feels sweet. Then we went big with power, with a redesigned Evolution engine. We gave it performance cams and high-compression, high-flow cylinder heads. The result is sizable gains in torque and horsepower. So much, we had to push the redline up to 6000 RPM. 2014 Harley-Davidson Touring Lineup Updated with Project Rushmore Enhancements
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Harley-Davidson announced a number of updates to its touring models, a cumulative result of a product development effort the company dubs Project Rushmore. The enhancements cover several areas, addressing performance, comfort, style and infotainment needs, and will be implemented across eight 2014 Harley-Davidson Touring models: the Road King, Street Glide, Street Glide Special, Electra Glide Ultra Classic, Electra Glide Ultra Limited, the Tri-Glide Ultra Classic trike and the CVO Road King and CVO Limited. “Project RUSHMORE has been touched by thousands of people, most of them being our customers and our employees,” says Scott Habegger, Harley-Davidson Director of Motorcycle Planning.

As Pete wrote in our own review, the Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight has a rugged, bobber-inspired look with its chopped fender, chubby front tire and underslung mirrors. For the guys over at Cycle Canada, the Forty-Eight conjured up a rather odd image: roller derby.
Harley-Davidson Discontinuing Road Glide and Other Models for 2014
Mon, 15 Apr 2013A leaked memo sent out to Harley-Davidson dealers reveals plans to drop several models from the company’s 2014 lineup. Slated to disappear are the XR1200X Sportster, the FXS Softail Blackline, and the FLHTC Electra Glide Classic. Also being discontinued, at least for 2014, is the FLTRX Road Glide Custom and FLTRU Road Glide Ultra, as the tourer models undergo a design refresh.
