Harley-Davidson Sportster description
One more time for the holiday Selling My 99 Sportster 1200S, their were only around 31,000 S model sportsters produced in an 8 year period, that averages out to about 3800 of these bikes a year for the world. The dual plug head bikes came out in 98 and the last ones were made in 2003 to the best of my knowledge, these sportsters were in their time the most powerful in the sportster line. I purchased this bike approx. 2 yrs ago rode it a few times as I received, ran and rode great, parked it then removed and sold the tanks and tins off of it. I removed the forward controls, non essential lighting, factory exhaust etc and made some changes, listed below. Headlamp moved under top tree, gauge cluster moved to top of upper tree, straight shot 2" drag pipes wrapped, mid controls, solo seat, rear 1-3" drop kit, drag bars, new throttle cables, shaved rear fender, custom tail light, bigger battery, engine cases blacked out, lower forks blacked out, custom black grey multi metallic paint, looks grayish black inside when in the sun its like a star burst of colors. I had no intentions of putting turn signals back on the bike, i have the front ones they will go with the bike, it does have a horn, I do have a couple mirrors that go with it as well. What`s wrong with it? the led display for the odometer has flaked out, the speedo and tach and lighting works fine as does everything else, the bike has not been washed or polished up for the show, no hidden issues or agenda here other than I have a bike down that I need to fix and another that I`m building for my grandson, sooo....... some stuffs gotta go, if the sporty don't sell I`ll be parting it out minus the engine/trans got a ridged frame project that will suit it nicely, so be sure to write down my number should you be interested in the suspension or any other parts. Any questions please call and ask prior to bidding or buying, look at the pictures, check out the video link provided to hear it run. https://youtu.be/tyKXnRhBdYo the pictures of the bike off the lift is the final product. Pick up or shipping is the buyers responsibility, or ride it home, providing the roads aren't covered in snow and salt. I am willing to take a deposit and hold the bike for up to 30 days, deposit is non refundable. if paying in full with paypal add 3%, that's what they charge for a seller to accept payment through them. I can be reached at 607-398-2388 or 607-731-2503 thanks for looking and happy bidding. |

Motorcycle Stirrups – Yes, They Exist!
Wed, 15 Jan 2014What do you get when a lifelong horse rider and motorcyclist from Nebraska gets inspired to combine his two loves? Why, motorcycle stirrups, of course! The idea came to Devin Santana, proprietor of Nebraska City Iron Works, one day when he was riding his Harley-Davidson down the road and looked down at his feet.
US Motorcycle Thefts Down 6% in 2011
Tue, 09 Oct 2012Americans reported 46,667 motorcycle thefts in 2011, a 6% decrease from 49,791 stolen motorcycles in 2010, reports the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Despite the drop in reported thefts, the non-profit organization representing nearly 1100 property and casualty insurance companies says the theft rate still averages out to one motorcycle stolen every 11 minutes in the U.S. The numbers were published in the NICB’s 2011 ForeCAST Report which examined theft reports as well as recoveries.
Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight and Roller Derby? [Video]
Thu, 10 Jun 2010Canadian publication Cycle Canada had some fun on a photoshoot for its review of the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight for the July issue. As Pete wrote in our own review, the Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight has a rugged, bobber-inspired look with its chopped fender, chubby front tire and underslung mirrors. For the guys over at Cycle Canada, the Forty-Eight conjured up a rather odd image: roller derby.
