Harley-Davidson Panhead FL description

1948 / 64  Harley-Davidson FL Panhead

1948 Harley-Davidson FL Panhead in excellent, ready to ride condition. Set-up to ride, this bike will not win an AMCA points contest, but is reliable and able to be ridden  without worry. I believe the frame to be an original 1948 wishbone frame, and the bike is configured to be a 1948 FL. The motor is a 1964 FL Panhead with original numbers and matching cases. Some original parts, lots of aftermarket.  Frame has had a couple of tabs cut off (product of the chopper days- exhaust hanger and rear stand, not critical), but overall is solid and without defect. Unsure as to originality of transmission, but assume it to be a later model consistent with the motor vintage and shifts great and is quiet. Handshift, foot-clutch. Brakes are newer, but still need to plan your stops ahead of time. Rivera hidden belt-drive primary with Pro Clutch. Upgraded to 12V charging system and lights with auto-advance distributor. S&S Super E carburetor and K&N filter. Sale includes original 6V generator, coil, horn, and lighting, as well as original M-74B Linkert carburetor if you want to go back to stock. Speedometer had been replaced when I purchased the bike- no clue as to actual mileage but compression  leakdown is good and bike runs very strong for a 74 cubic inch (top-end may have been bored-over) and doesn't use oil. Fuel tanks are rust free and clean and lined with Red Kote. No mechanical issues- ready to run. I have put about 2,000 miles on the bike since the restoration was completed. Clear 1964 Harley-Davidson title in hand and ready to transfer with cash-in-hand. Will gladly let serious buyers test ride while I hold your money. Will ship with payment first - you arrange shipping company.

Louisiana Bill Updates Maximum Handlebar Height Legislation

Thu, 17 May 2012

Louisiana state lawmakers have approved a bill that would change the maximum height of motorcycle handlebars. Current state law restricts handlebar height to no more than 15 inches above the seat, a somewhat arbitrary level, but a common choice with 17 other states. The House has voted 87-0 in favor of Senate Bill 582 to change the maximum height to the rider’s shoulder level, as measured while sitting on the seat.
