Up for auction is a 1940 Harley Davidson ULH Flathead. Engine number ULH 3207. Do not see any frame numbers. This bike came out of an estate, so I am not sure of any modifications. Bike should be Cleaned up and sorted out and would make a very Cool Vintage Custom Rider. I know the bike was running when parked but sure it needs to be sorted out a little. Seems to have good compression. Looks like mikuni carburetor was last thing put on it, not sure if ran since. Paint looks good. Chrome is nice but has some bad spots. Showing 3300 miles, maybe since build. Shifts good. Front disc brake looks to be incomplete. Has a later frame with swing arm. Seat doesn’t look right on the bike to me. Looks to have had a lot of money spent building it. I am not familiar with Harleys so didn’t try and get running and please ask questions. Sold as is. Hopefully the photos show how nice it is. The frame is perfectly straight with any defects repaired, the motor mounts are perfect, however the left front motor mount has a .013 shim for a good safe fit. The motor had lots of work: the cases are correct 48, but different numbers and the mounts were fly cut to perfect, new races and bearings installed and they were machined for 53 type hydraulic lifters. Truett & Osborn wheels, trued and balanced, all new bearings, Torrington needle bearing pinion bushing replacement done as well as cam cover pinion bushing replaced and reamed to spec.. The cases then sealed and closed. pistons and rings fitted .030 over, cylinders were perfect, no fin repairs. Heads completely re-worked with new threads cut for intakes, new rockers, fitted and polished, Kibble White valve train, triple ground pockets, seals, guides etc.. Laminated pan gasket tops off the heads for a oil free seal. Cam cover to case lapped to seal. The cam is an AB grind Andrews designed for more duration on the exhaust, for a cooler running motor and more mid range. I went with S&S pump for obvious reasons. My original Jim's hydraulic lifters were recently changed back to solids,( Jim's don't work). Lots of time and many dollars went into the motor and trans and I would drive it cross country without hesitation, it starts easy every time, hot or cold. Here is a 1953 servi-car I've had for years. I cleaned it up a little and started it in the last few days. Motor runs good with no engine knocks (tappet noise of course).I put an m88 linkert and manifold on it but have the original M18 and manifold the buyer may have choice of either one.This will be an easy project however it will need the master cylinder rebuilt as it is leaking now but the brakes are working though.The spark advance on the left bar is incorrect and advances backwards.Gas and oil tanks are in great shape with no rust whatsoever.Lights and switches ,brake lights tail lights head light high and low beam are fine, speedo light and dash lights ok too.Panhead speedo works but not right gear ratio.I'm leaving it on anyway that's how I got it.Back wheels have old Goodyear blems with new tubes.The front has always had a slow leak I never got around to fixing.At some point it appears as though it spit off a chain as can be seen in my pics.Last time I rode it the clutch was dragging a little.2013-10-19 00:39:22Brooklyn, Michigan, US92,0387,500.00 -

Tue, 19 Aug 2014The California Air Resource Board has released new certification documents revealing most of Harley-Davidson‘s 2015 line-up. The CARB executive orders, required before a motorcycle is allowed to be sold in California, reveal new CVO versions of the Road Glide Ultra and Street Glide, two low versions of the Electra Glide and more models receiving Harley-Davidson’s Twin-Cooled engine. Introduced last year on the Ultra Limited, CVO Limited and Tri-Glide Ultra trike, the Twin-Cooled engine uses liquid-cooling for the cylinder heads, reducing emissions.
