It cranks out big, juicy torque and comes with carb or sophisticated EFI. What you don't see is a hidden rear suspension that provides classic looks and a great ride. The styling comes courtesy of a high-calorie diet of iron and chrome. Note the burly FL fork and big 7" headlight. Solid disc wheels. Fat rubber, now 150mm wide on the rear. Giant fenders. Floorboards big enough for behemoth-sized shift-kickers. We went large with Anniversary details. Gold-trimmed tank cloisonné. 100TH Anniversary emblems on the seat and engine covers. 2013-2014 Harley-Davidson Breakout Recalled for Faulty Fuel Indicators
Thu, 17 Apr 2014Harley-Davidson is recalling 2013-2014 Breakout models, including CVO versions, because the fuel level indication system may not be properly reading the correct amounts of fuel. As of this publishing, recalls have been announced by government agencies in Australia and Canada; the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not yet posted a recall but U.S.-based members of the Harley-DavidsonForums.com report American dealerships have already started receiving recall bulletins. According to a recall announcement by Transport Canada, some Breakout and CVO Breakout models may run out of fuel despite the fuel and range indicators indicating there is still enough fuel in the tank.
Harley Declares Women Riders Month
Tue, 10 Feb 2009Back in July of ’08 Motorcycle.com announced that The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum and Nationwide Insurance were working together to mark July as Women’s Motorcycle Month in order to honor the contribution made to history by female riders. This May, Harley-Davidson is staging a series of events in order to celebrate women on two wheels by declaring May, “Women Riders Month.” Some of the Harley-Davidson Women Riders Month initiatives will include special rides in New York City and Milwaukee as well as an attempt to grace the pages of the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest number of women motorcycle riders trained in one weekend. Harley-Davidson dealerships will also be hosting women-only Garage Parties, which consist of informal meetings in an unintimidating environment where women can learn about motorcycling.
Marlon Brando Estate Files Suit Against Harley-Davidson
Tue, 17 May 2011Brando Enterprises, an operating entity that protects the Marlon Brando brand on behalf of the actor’s family, has filed a lawsuit against Harley-Davidson. The suit alleges Harley-Davidson used the legendary actor’s name without a license for a leather riding boot called “The Brando”. “It is interesting that Harley-Davidson – a company that is vigorously protective of its own brand – would seek to exploit an iconic property without benefit of a licensing agreement,” says Jeffrey I.
