Harley-Davidson Other description

Harley-Davidson Inc, often abbreviated H-D or Harley, is an American motorcycle manufacturer. Founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during the 1st decade of the 20th century, it was 1 of two major American motorcycle manufacturers to survive the Great Depression. The Sportster is a line of motorcycles produced continuously since 1957 by the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Sportster models are designated in Harley-Davidson\'s product code by beginning with \"XL\". The 1st Sportster in 1957 featured many of the same information of the KH including the frame, fenders, large gas tank and front suspension. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the vintage 1965 Harley Davidson XLCH you see pictured. This particular motorcycle has the 1st year twelve volt generator and the rarer horseshoe oil tank. The current owner states that this bike runs and rides strong! This motorcycle\'s impressive V-twin engine out powered most competitors of the era and it still has that great Harley grumble. The black with orange flames paint job looks great showing only minor imperfections such as paint chips and rubs on the rear fender and tank from normal use. The single black seat looks great. The chrome is in great shape, showing only minor pitting, but shows well overall. After its 1957 introduction, Harley\'s XL Sportster gained a more sporting version called the XLCH in 1959 -- \"CH\" supposedly standing for \"Competition Hot.\" This is 1 of the Sportsters that featured the now-famous \"eyebrow\" headlamp cover that remains a Sportster trademark. Power rose steadily over the years, earning the fleet Sportster the nickname \"King of the Drags\" -- an unofficial title it would hold until the late 1960s. Of course, this was at a time when most of its competitors were British 650-cc twins, which spotted considerable displacement to the Sportster. And in drag racing, size matters. The chrome wire spoke wheels look good with a 12/90-16 tire on the rear and a 90/90-19 tire on the front. Both have tons of life left on them. The mileage currently shows 6,351mis. The VIN is 65XLCH1403 and this bike is being sold on mileage exempt Indiana title. GET OUT AND RIDE!

Fri, 23 Jan 2009

Photograph by: Roy Antal, Leader-Post By and large, motorcyclists are some of the most generous citizens in the world. Riding events all over the world bring in untold millions of dollars for numerous worthy charities. Keeping with this theme, one hardy Canadian rider is braving the Great White North’s frigid winter temperatures by riding his Harley coast to coast to raise awareness for diabetes, a disease that has seen a rapid explosion of new afflictions.
