Find or Sell Motorcycles & Scooters in USA
  • 1965 Harley-Davidson FLH PANHEAD1965 Harley-Davidson FLH PANHEAD (1965)
So the first go round with this bike fell through and now we are listing it again.Up for sale at this time is an amazing real deal winners circle 1965 electra-glide.This is being sold by me for the family of my friend Larry McLaughlin, who recently passed away.I am the agent for the family, and all questions regarding this bike can be answered by me as I was the mechanic who worked on this bike for years.Mudfish motorcycle company 631 682-5973.There is no desperation in this sale,So we are not interested in tire kickers or trades or strange offers that make no sense..The bike can be viewed by appointment through me and the description should leave little to be discussed.               The history of this bike is known from the get go through Larry's research and this is what we got here..The original owner bought this in Nov 1965 and had it for a bunch of years. This is a Holiday Red and birch white 1965 1st year electric start panhead with king of the highway poackage(top of the line). In the mid 1980"s the bike was purchased by Chris Lesavage.I knew Chris very well from the 1970's untill his passing, and upon reciept of the bike Chris commissioned one of his 2 harley restorer's to do a complete renovation of the bike.Chris had a collection of over 130 motorcycles and he was not shy about spending the money on the bikes he owned.Back in the 1980's Chris used both Steven Wright, and Jeff Slobodian as his resto guys for harley and one of them redid this piece. It remained in Chris' posession untill all his bikes were auctioned off at the famous Lesavage auction,in 2003..I was at the auction and it was quite the big deal. The bike was purchased by a Mr George Stieger here on Long Island and George brought it down to BIG Boar Cycles in hempstead where they went through the bike and made it roadworthy(we have all those reciepts)..George rode the bike for a while and then Larry acquired the bike from Goerge..Larry was new to the Amca back then and he found me(Mudfish) and together we went about the process of bringing the bike to its top level,,and although a painstakeing undertaking we got it to where it is today. The restorations of the 80's were quite different than the judging now,and although the paint and frame and engine were up to snuff, many minor details had to be changed.Larry refused to be dettered and had me remove both wheels,(re-lace with genuine nos cad harley spokes,),restore the hubs,Nos goodyear super eagles, nos 65 only starter and generator, nos mufflers,Nos saddlebag lids, and a ton of other nos genuine parts..Only Nos would work.Larry hunted for 1 year for a correct nos 1965 only battery cover..The last pic shows its last judging sheet into the winners circle, but even after that he had me fix all the little details that are on that sheet..The only thing I did not fix was the 1 point loss for heavy paint on the rear fender,,and the speedometer issue. The speedometer should be restored for a restoration,But Larry insisted it be left with the mileage because it is the original mileage on the bike from  day 1..After the bike made the winners circle it spent 8 months in the winnners circle exhibit  up at the Motorcyclepedia Museum in Newburgh(this is the Amca's wing where only the best go to be seen by the public). This bike has a fair reserve for a bike of this calibur, and it is for sale locally so it can be sold at any time...Also we require a 500.00 non refundable deposit through paypal at the end of the auction within 48 hours the balance is due via bank transfer, cashiers check or in person within 1 week.. I'm back at it and gonna go hard,so keep an eye out for lotsa parts for Harley jd,vl,45,knucklehead,panhead,Shovelhead,Flh,sportster and more. Also throwing in some other vintage parts for indian,excelsior,etc..Overseas bidders are welcome to bid on all my items..Overseas winners must pay via Paypal only and overseas shipping will be determined at the end of the auction and will be via Usps international 1st class or Priority mail only. Thanks for viewing and Good Luck.Mudfish
