Ducati Ducati Monza/Race bike description

hi all,

make me an offer - i found another bike i want to buy!!! :>)

i test rode a hypermotard 1100 evo sp, and ended up buying a 2010 iteration last winter. it shares the garage w/a '78 duc darmah, a '95 buell s2 that's making ~100whp/95ft-lbs torque, and a highly modified '00 suzuki dr650 motard.

i now have put ~2000 miles on the evo sp, but i am just not feeling it like i thought i would be. i thought i'd be wanting to ride it so much more than my other bikes, but it's just not happening. some days i am loving it; other days i wonder what am i doing on this thing? it may be just a bit too "hyper" for me - i think it's aptly named.

so, i am now advertising it for sale. i had bought a new 6.4g ca cycleworks tank kit, full stainless mivv exhaust, and rapidbike evo fuel module; i've never installed them. (~$2225, plus shipping)

so, here's the basics:
-16k miles (will increase; i am still riding it); 4k miles on dealer rebuilt motor, by ducati of dallas -
i don't know the details of why the engine needed a rebuild; whether it was some factory fluke or the whether the original owner abused it. ducati paid for the parts, but not the labor. i was told by the seller that the original owner decided he couldn't afford the labor, so he sold it to one of the guys who works in the shop - the seller who i bought it from. he kept it for a couple thousand miles, and i bought it from him; i had it shipped to me via uship. he needed the money for his house remodel. i have all the receipts from ducati of dallas. it runs great.

what i've done:
-new hammerhead gearshift (~$110)
-new oury grips ($cheap)
-fabbri wind screen (~$100; w/hidden damage, thanks to my inept install)
-mirrors w/integrated turn signals (~$140)
-relocated rear turn signals and license plate ($cheap)
-new lithium ion battery (~$160)
-new gold-fren front brake pads installed (~$40)
-new rear tire, courtesy of a nail (avon 3d ultra sport av80)
nib, never installed:
-2nd new gold-fren brake pads, fronts and rears ($65)
-6.4g ca cycleworks gas tank kit (~$900 & shipping)
-pod filter wraps for ca cycleworks filters ($40)
-full mivv stainless exhaust w/sensor bungs (~$800 & shipping)
-rapidbike evo fuel controller (~$525 & shipping)

i also have an extra used stock seat; i was thinking of having a custom seat made before i thought i'd put it up f/s.

this bike, 377lbs and 95hp, is NOT a beginner's bike. If you add the exhaust and the fuel controller, you will be close to 110hp and 360 lbs. The EVO SP model has the upgraded Brembo brakes, forged wheels and Ohlins suspension, and retailed for $3k more than the standard Hypermotard.

i had one get-off; pics show the results - quite minor. (the worst cosmetics, to the left muffler cover, will go away if the aftermarket exhaust is installed.)

asking $8181

other bikes i am interested in are the '07-'10 aprilia tuono factory, '04-10 aprilia rsvr factory, and the '92-'98 duc ss/sp. i'd also be interested in trying the '06 up duc gt1000, which i have never ridden.

i would also consider trading up to a ktm 1290 super duke, or down to a '13 or newer ktm 690 duke.

thanks,

doug s.

ps - this bike gets ridden and was not cleaned up in any way for the photos.
pps - i will consider reasonable offers - both with or w/o the uninstalled tank/exhaust/fuel controller
