This bike started out as a 1984 BMW R80RT. I found this in a barn and all fluids had been drained. I put fresh fluids, battery and gas and when I hit the starter it purred like a kitten. The touring fairing and other items were removed as they were in rough shape. I left the bike in original patina because I wasn't sure if I was gonna make a brat or a cafe racer. Beautiful and rather rare 1984 R-80-ST. It runs very well. Has been garaged and started frequently, and ridden in the last 6 months. I was told it is a 1983 even though the paper work says 1984. Speedometer reads 373 miles. It is stock except for: It has been lowered for the needs of a doctor who owned it before we bought it back. The seat, shocks and tires have been modified to lower the entire bike making it a very nice motorcycle for a shorter rider or as a first bike. BMW Announces Recall Campaign for K1600 Family Motorcycles
Fri, 25 Feb 2022The recall concerns all 2019-2020 BMW K1600 models due to the risk of rear suspension link failure caused by a manufacturing defect - the strength of the part does not meet the factory requirements. This linkage may be destroyed during normal road use, causing the rear of the motorcycle to fall onto the rear wheel. BMW dealers this spring will begin notifying owners of motorcycles that are subject of the recall campaign to visit an authorized dealership for a rear suspension linkage replacement.
