BMW R-Series description
This is my Baby for the last 25 years..... "Old Reliable". We've seen a lot of territory together.
And as I am almost 67 yrs old it may be time ( we'll see ) to pass it along to the younger generation - and that, in comparison, should be a hella lot of you out there. Always a California bike, I'm the 2nd owner. Got it from Plam BMW in Santa Cruz ( that name will ring bells with the older Airhead set in the Bay Area ). **STAINTUNE STAINLESS EXHAUST SYSTEM, BEAUTIFUL MUSIC** The engine was rebuilt in 2011 by Dave Gardner / Recommend Service, San Francisco. If you know Dave, you know it was done right. He's retired now, but in the day he was Dr. Boxer. It was the $6900 tune up..... ****IT NOW HAS 9040 MILES ON THE REBUILD**** Nikasil barrels, new cam, timing chain, pistons, heads rebuild by Kibblewhite of Pacifica CA ( another name that the cognisenti will know). The whole enchilada. The gearbox, BTW, was fine no issues. ****CHECK OU THE DRIVING LIGHTS - GIVE 'EM SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO LOOK AT, THAT'S MY STRATEGY**** It all works. It's a beauty. Strong. Reliable (duh...). If you're looking for Classic Airhead, well........ PLEASE NOTE: New front / back Metzler's with maybe 300 miles on 'em. And I just changed all the fluids, should be good for 6K mi or 12 months. Questions?..... Give a shout, we can discuss. OK, thanks for looking. |

The solution to a pricey GPS mount
Wed, 26 Aug 2009So you've gone out and bought your BMW R1200GS, you're ready to circumnavigate the globe's toughest roads - or ride over some potholes on your way to work - but you've got a dilemma: no way to mount your GPS device! So what you should do is exactly what this chap's done and use a spatula and a few rubber bands to mount-up your GPS for easy use. And the bonus is that when you get to where you're going, you can use the spatula with your BBQ and triple it up as a fly-swatter too.
Sportbike BMW S1000 RR received a turbocharger and almost 300
Fri, 06 Jan 2017This formidable "bimmer" appears to have stylistic differences from the standard bike, although the main thing in it is not the design, it’s the technical stuffing. It turns the S1000 RR into a real rocket, dominating all the standard "1-litres". The master decided to increase the power and traction by installing a turbocharger!
