24,000 major service done at Mike's Motorcycles (he owns a K1200r) at 25,500. So, at current mileage, another 15,000 miles before a big service. Fuel pump recall completed this summer. Rear wheel flange recall completed this summer. I'm going to upgrade the low-beam to a better LED, so, riding with high-beams at the moment. Description If you don't know this bike, it's an incredibly versatile sport-touring motorcycle. I ride the mountains every weekend and have to say that I've never been passed by another biker. . .I suppose there was that one time, two Ducatis, a 748 and a 999 riding together. And, that holds true when I'm riding two-up with my daughter. The suspension on this thing is phenomenal, it holds an incredibly solid line in deep turns. As to the touring, early in the summer I rode to San Diego from Denver. Left on a Friday late afternoon and returned on a Monday evening....And, I'm old and 6'5". It's a sportier and faster version of an FJR1300, Triumph Trophy, and Kawasaki Concours. Also, note that the 2007s don't have the second gear gearbox issues that the 2006s have. I live near Denver...this is a great place to fly and then ride back home. I'm happy to pick you up at the airport and get you to the bike. |

BMW 1000RR and the Honda C70, are they indestructible?
Wed, 20 Apr 2011I’ve managed 1374 miles on the Michelin Power Pures (mostly on track) and although we’ve had some decent temperatures they still look like new so there’s plenty meat left for another month at least. I’ve been running them at 30psi front and 32psi rear and find they warm up after a few miles but I wouldn’t say the temperature comes any quicker than any of the competition so it has to be four miles before I get brave. I’ve had a few out the seat moments with my BMW but I have got the rear suspension set pretty hard (8 rebound,8 compression, two turns on pre load) and in slick mode, so 190bhp in first gear at the Knockhill hairpin is always going to be dodgy.
FIM to Revise WSBK Homologation Requirements
Fri, 17 Jan 2014The International Motorcycling Federation is considering modifying its homologation requirements for the World Superbike Championship following Bimota‘s somewhat surprising plans to re-enter the series. Under current regulations, manufacturers must produce a minimum number of motorcycles for it to be eligible to compete in the production-based WSBK championship. The official regulations currently require a minimum of 125 units produced for an initial homologation inspection, 500 units produced by June 30 of the current year, 1,000 units by the end of the current year and 2,000 units by the end of the following year.
2014 BMW K1600 GTL Exclusive Revealed
Wed, 20 Nov 2013When it comes to moto-touring in the lap of luxury, BMW’s K1600 GTL Exclusive, the latest iteration of the K1600 lineup, promises the kind of high-class riding experience BMW is known for. The K1600 GTL Exclusive takes luxury touring to another level, both visually and functionally. As with the rest of the K1600 line, the lynchpin of the model range is the uber-sweet 1649cc inline-Six capable of 129 ft.-lbs. of torque, 70% of that is available at just 1500 rpm.
