Aprilia RXV 550 description

2008 APRILIA RXV 550

The second of two that I picked up this spring. I originally intended to keep this one and did a few upgrades when I went through it. The odometer shows 100 miles but it didn't have a speed sensor when I got it (it does now) but the ECU only showed 16 hours of run time. I went all the way to the bottom end on this one and it now has less than 30 minutes on a fresh rebuild. It was missing a few parts when I got it so the seat, chain, clutch, and rear fender are all new. There are some light brush marks on the front fender but I have a new one ordered. The forks were just serviced with synthetic oil and new double lipped fork seals.

Other upgrades include:
SXV 5th gear
DLC lifter buckets
MXV crankcase breather
MXV chain guide
Enduro tail light
NTWC 47 tooth rear sprocket
Aprilia Racing foam air filter

Aprilia Files Appeal for Monza Race 2 WSBK Results

Thu, 16 May 2013

As expected, Aprilia has filed an appeal with the International Motorcycling Federation‘s International Disciplinary Court for the finish to the second race of the past weekend’s World Superbike Championship round at Italy’s Monza circuit. The race ended in controversy stemming from Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes running wide on a corner and missing a chicane on the final lap. Sykes was in third place at the time ahead of Aprilia‘s Sylvian Guintoli, and was able to return to the track ahead of Guintoli, crossing the finish less than a second ahead of the Aprilia rider to take third place.

De Puniet, Espargaro to Ride Aprilia-powered Aspar CRT MotoGP Racebike

Fri, 25 Nov 2011

The Aspar racing team announced the signing of Randy de Puniet and Aleix Espargaró to compete in the 2012 MotoGP World Championship on a CRT racebike powered by Aprilia engines. De Puniet (pictured above with his Playboy model girlfriend Lauren Vickers) rode a mystery race bike for Aspar this week at a MotoGP test, believed to be a modified version of Aprilia‘s WSBK-spec RSV4 with MotoGP-issue Bridgestone tires and carbon brakes. CRT rules require the use of a prototype chassis, so the Aspar machine cannot use the RSV4′s chassis.

Piaggio Reports Q1 2013 Results

Mon, 06 May 2013

The Piaggio Group reported an 11.6% drop in net sales for the first quarter of 2013, the result of a struggling economy and unseasonably cold weather in Europe and a flatlining two-wheeler market in Vietnam. There was however some good news in North America, Vespa sales in India and a 27.8% increase in Moto Guzzi sales. According to the company’s first quarter report, Piaggio reported net sales of 303.4 million euros (US$396.8 million), down from net sales of 343.1 million euros reported the same quarter of 2012.
